Job Description

Rapidly growing high mix / low volume, precision machining manufacturer, needs an Assembly Business Unit Manager to run Mechanical Assembly. The Assembly Business Unit Manager will lead change and establish a high-performance work environment while managing the day-to-day production requirements in the Mechanical Assembly Department. Job Responsibilities

  • Lead team responsible for mechanical assembly of manufactured good
  • Create a culture of operating excellence by utilizing Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing
  • Create weekly work schedule and overtime schedules with goals to manage over-time as capacities surge
  • Work effectively with quality, sourcing, mechanical & design engineers, and process engineers
  • Oversee and direct training programs for your team
  • Adhere to ISO standards and conduct periodic quality audits
  • Proactively ensure safety compliance and audits to achieve a safe workplace
  • Work closely with Master Scheduling to ensure planning, resources, and capacity information meets customer requirements
  • Provide coaching, feedback, reminders and mentoring and obtain support and buy-in from the team

 

Education/Learning Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations, or Business majors (strongly preferred)

 

Required Work Experience:

  • 10+ years’ supervisory experience in an industrial manufacturing or machining environment
  • 5+ years’ hands-on supervisory experience leading specialized assembly of mechanized products (hydraulic, pneumatic and or electrical aspects)
  • Experience in high-mix / low-volume manufacturing environment
  • Budget or P&L experience
  • Experience working in an ISO facility
  • Must be able to work effectively in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • Cross-functional communication with Quality, Sourcing, Mechanical, Design & Process Engineers to achieve safety, quality, and on time delivery
  • Experience implementing and supporting Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing processes
  • Cost savings analysis and implementation with an understanding of business & financial information
  • Ability to scale a company as the business grows
  • Strong Leader who in the face of pressure, remains calm and respectful
